Privacy policy

Kerning Studios ("we", "us") builds and hosts websites for businesses. This policy explains what personal information we collect through kerningstudios.com and our client dashboard, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

• Information you give us, such as your name, email, business details and messages when you contact us or become a client.
• Account information for dashboard users: name, email, password hash and security settings such as two-factor authentication.
• Technical information like IP address, browser type and pages visited, used to keep our services secure and working.
• Billing information, processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers.

Client websites

When we host a website for a client, the client decides what information their site collects (for example through contact forms or online orders). We process that information on the client's behalf and only to provide our services to them. Questions about a client's site should go to that business first.

How we use information

• To respond to enquiries and provide, maintain and support our services.
• To send service emails such as login links, invoices and important notices.
• To protect our services and our clients against fraud, spam and abuse.
• To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Service providers

We use trusted providers to run our services, including cloud hosting (DigitalOcean), DNS and network services (Cloudflare), email delivery, and payments (Stripe). They process information only as needed to provide their services to us.

Retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide our services and meet our legal obligations, then delete or anonymise it. Enquiries that don't lead to a project are deleted after 24 months.

Security

We use encryption in transit, encrypted storage of secrets, two-factor authentication for staff, least-privilege access and regular backups. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information.

Your choices

You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, or object to how we use it, by emailing hello@kerningstudios.com. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under local law.

Changes

We'll post any changes to this policy here and update the date above. For significant changes we'll notify clients by email.
